On Safari
The rest of the morning provides you time to relax and, perhaps, record your morning’s adventures in your safari journal or accompany one of the guides on a birding walk. If you are a runner, this is the best time to venture out into the African bush with a Maasai moran (Swahili for “warrior”). But don’t worry – they will allow you to set the pace of your run.
Lunch is generally served around between 1 and 2 p.m., although the dining schedule can be easily adjusted to meet your personal preferences.
Depending on your location, your afternoon game drive begins between 3 and 4 p.m.. The sun has begun to lower itself and the grazing animals emerge from the protective shade, seeking food and water before nightfall. The movement of the animals attracts the attention of the great predators – lions and leopards – that have spent the past few hours resting. The setting African sun adds a beautiful warm glow to everything, providing dramatic lighting for your photographs.
Upon your return to your camp as darkness falls, a refreshing hot shower awaits you. You are then invited to conclude your day by gathering around a campfire to raise a glass in celebration of another successful day and shared stories of your adventures. Around 8 p.m., a delicious four course meal is served under candlelight while the sounds of the African night begin to call. After further campfire discussions of the day’s events, you are escorted back to your cozy quarters to rest for another day.
